So a while back... I was doing the usual Fruity tuttiness.... wandering about a night flea market ... okay actually it was more like racing from one particular stand to the mirror of the ladies room with this lovely little foxylicous vest that I had captured.. or it had captured me? Still debating ..... Anywho.. on the way back to tell the lovely lady responsible for this creation that I WOULD be purchasing this item... a guy, clipboard in hand, was able to stop me on my way to finish the deal ... Now usually this is not an easy task for anyone... or anything for that matter... but this... my friends .....is something I will gladly stop for....
Schick M.unique, a magazine in the form of a newspaper, trying to capture people who dare to be different in their most authentic moments and I.... was lucky enough to be a part of their first issue ! Exciting right...? So today in the mail came the package with the lovely Paper and a CD with some more pictures of moi !!!! With this I want to give a big thank you to the clipboard guy - I admit it wasn't the easiest walking the fast shoppers pace back to the stand, while telling me about this project / convincing me that this is not some sketchy porn shoot in the back ! & of course to the rest of the Shick. M.unique team !! Thank you for letting me partake in this and enjoy my first little photo shoot !!!
This little reptile has been a favorite of mine for a while now-
fell in love with her songs Twice and Blinking Pigs.
Above one of her newest tracks
Blood Orange a new project taken upon by the true artist Dev Hynes who just so happens to have synesthesia - a condition which links 2 senses together allowing this fellow to see sounds in colors - jealous much ?
"He describes his experience as viewing moving pictures, with tone, pitch, instrument, the spoken voice, and volume all having their own separate color qualities."
others to check out from this genius - I'm sorry we lied
A song full of a good dynamic and vocal placement that is very much in alignment to its soft, smoothly transitioned, melody
-
which could be played in a club just as much as at home chilling out
This song promptly became one of those tracks that I hear and instantaneously turn the volume nob to the right . I love her determined, confident, raw voice and how it corresponds so well with the lyrics and image she has taken upon herself. Hollywood glamour.. how much fun ?
Unfortunately with her new acclaimed fame, she has also found herself in hot controversial debates questioning her authenticity.
As this is not her first go to jump through the, glamorous, wild, famed, on -fireA- hulla- hoop . . .
oh my....
Yes, she had an attempt before dating back to 2009 which failed and got her record shelved. But let me ask this ? What happened to second chances ? And how many artists are there really that had a first go, only to fail as they discovered that the masses (which eventually get you those nominations at the Grammys) only enjoy the whole package including all its dirt and tragic trailer park stories...? Before they find their "true" come back and chance to jump once again ? Do your homework folks ! I find her songs to be good and I may not understand a lot about the technical aspects of music but usually my ears don't deceive me !!
Music goes deep in the bones, shouldn't have any boundaries and should in matter be all about the positive vibes received on the other end .
^no idea where this spontaneous critical side of me came from.. usually I don't really care what critics write because everybody is going to have their own mustard to give. & there shall always be differing opinions .... but.... the arguments presented in this case, to me, just seemed a bit pathetic - bearing only one motive - to destroy something before it even stands. If she is so fake than let karma haunt her down... because we all know it will eventually ! Until then.. just enjoy !
Light an orange candle and place a bunch of St. John's Wort flowersbeside it. Make a wish, then hang the bunch of flowers over your main entrance way in your home. Leave the candle to burn out on it's own. It will bring your wish and ward off Evil.
October 31st, the day that is the thinnest between the Spirit World and the physical world.
Happy Hallow's Eve all
Gypsies who have been wondering the earth for more than a millennium became objects of hatred, wonder, controversy and mistrust. Coming to Europe 6 centuries ago they brought with them the exotic traditions and dialects of far flung cultures. They became known as skillful storytellers, musicians, and fortune tellers. As well as being gifted practitioners of palmistry, crystallomancy, and many other forms of divination, including tarot card reading, which they claim to have indroduced in Europe in 1427. The Gypsies cling to age old customs, courtship rites, and dialect. Romany communities are still to be found in the length and breadth of Europe and deep inside the former Soviet Union. In a decade or so there may be none at all.
Romanies are true friends of the earth, with their Nomadic existence they have lived closer to nature for longer than anyone else, and they are among the last free spirits on the face of the globe.
Walking Zombie... is what we and with 'we' I mean me, myself and that really tired one over there... would describe the last week...or...... 2 ? I think the "bear cave syndrom" is slowly creeping in... yes it comes every year.. SURPRISE... and creates this little voice in my head that keeps suggesting to just throw everything and go find a comfy cave with lots of fur blankets and mango trees to reside in for the next what, half a year ?
But before I go do that... let me tell you or rather show you... my recent excursion to the city of Istanbul .
The best word to describe would probably be .. busy.... the city's population... 16-20 million... they can't really say...i think that says everything.... including 2 million internationals... So yes.. stick your forks in the fondue pot! They got it all !
Between street cats, the craziest traffic I have experienced to date... new yorkers- feel laughed at ! Meats roasting everywhere, harmonizing architecture fitting every mood of - pick your city-! burkas, craZy chanting (or rather to much - to early chanting), cashmere scarves swaying in all directions, and turkish coffee, I found myself exploring one of the oldest cities in Europe.
Here's the peek
Sketchiest vintage store I've ever been to... you were basically shopping in the dark.. is that a chucky doll on the right ..?

Note to oneself.. dishes will be shopped in Istanbul . period.
Did I mention their tiling and pattern skills ? Probably one of my favorites and most inspiring to me personally ! I'll be sure to post some of them in the future...
